Passwords Still Not Taken Seriously
The biggest companies in the world mainly store most of their administrative passwords in the heads of their IT staff or they are kept on paper, according to a recent Cyber-Ark Software survey of 200 IT security professionals. During the Infosecurity event in London, 28 percent responded that they keep their administrative passwords in their head, while 38 percent said they write them down. The survey results worry Cyber-Ark, which says failure to protect passwords may disrupt a company or cause a loss of productivity. What is even more disturbing is that 15 percent said they never change their critical passwords and 25 percent allow their IT staff to use their password without permission.
