Defeating Spyware
Small businesses are more vulnerable to spyware due to a lack of in-house tech support. Spyware puts sensitive information at risk and can slow down applications. Oftentimes, spyware goes undetected until problems arise, and it can be difficult to remove. Advertisements that pop up when the user is not on the Internet, altered browser settings, new desktop toolbars, and an increase in error messages are all symptoms of spyware. Spyware can enter a computer when the user installs free software or clicks on a pop-up ad, and some forms of spyware are programmed to reinstall after they have been removed. Small businesses can locate spyware-removal tools online or hire a professional to take care of the problem. They should also attempt to block spyware with the installation of anti-spyware software and firewalls.
